Cellar List 1999 Single-Vineyard Produttori del Barbaresco Only $39.95
Produttori del Barbaresco is one of the best values coming out of Italy. From the Piedmont region in Italy, this cooperative grows and makes wine solely from the Nebbiolo grape. Once produced, the wines are directly imported into Oregon by our own distributor, Lemma Wine Company. This gives us the best price by not having to go through too many hands before landing on our dinner tables. In good vintages, the cooperative produces a Barbaresco DOCG, nine single-vineyard Barbarescos and a Nebbiolo Langhe. The 1999 vintage was nothing less than a great vintage, producing wines with backbone and longevity. These are Barbarescos for the true Nebbiolo lover. We currently have all nine single-vineyard wines here at WWD. At 8 years old these wines are just barely starting to reveal their potential. This is something you can have in your cellar to bring out on special occasions for years to come. And you do not have to break the bank to do so.
Fontodi Flaccianello Della Pieve 1999 $84.95/bt
From the heart of Chianti Classico, Fontodi has been producing superb wines since they purchased the land back in 1968. In 1981 they produced Flaccianello, one of the original "Supertuscans" made from Sangiovese.
"Made from 100% Sangiovese and aged 12 months in French oak, the 1999 Flaccianello is immensely impressive. Concentrated yet elegant, this sweet, pure, exceptionally long wine can be drunk now, or cellared for 10-12 years." The Wine Advocate $84.95/bt
Angelo Gaja Barberesco D.O.C.G. 1996 $150/bt
Angelo Gaja produces some of the most sought after wines in the world. Here is a chance to purchase wine that has hit its strice without cellaring it yourself.
"Rich, full-bodied, and seductive, with its moderate tannin largely concealed by the wine's wealth of fruit and extract, this gorgeously pure offering gets my nod as the finest Barbaresco produced by Gaja since 1990. Anticipated maturity: 2002-2016." The Wine Advocate
